Start with your property
Make a note of outdoor taps, pipes in unheated spaces and rooms that are used seasonally. Ask a plumber which precautions fit the building. Advice for a year-round home may not fit a seasonal cabin or a private water system.
If water flow stops
Note which taps are affected and check for visible leaks from a safe place. Do not use an open flame to thaw pipes. If the location is hard to reach or the cause is unclear, seek a qualified provider rather than experimenting.
