Write down what changed
Which fixture is affected? When did it start? Is the issue constant or does it come and go? Include recent work, unusual sounds and any products already used. You do not need to diagnose the problem.
Plan safe access
Tell the provider about stairs, parking, a locked utility room or a building manager who needs notice. Move everyday items out of the work area only if it is safe. Keep children and pets away from the work.
Agree before work starts
Ask what the first visit covers, whether there is a call-out or diagnosis fee, and who approves extra work. Confirm how payment works and ask for the scope in writing. Keep a copy of the quote and invoice.
